Elvis portrait - a major portrait painting of Elvis Aron Presley created by Danish portrait painter Peter Simonsen (PS)

Danish artist and portrait painter Peter Simonsen (PS): - I always aim to portray the person behind the portrait. Dig a little deeper and catch a glimpse of something undefined. I am an expressionist - therefore, each painting also contains a part of me.

The portrait exhibition includes drawings and paintings as well as early works created back in the 1980s. A real treat for Elvis fans, music lovers and for fan art enthusiasts. The exhibition can be seen until August 25nd 2018.

This first art exhibition in 2018 - 'A tribute to the music - Vol. 1' - was in the character of the music. The art exhibition was artist and portrait painter Peter Simonsen's personal tribute to some of the singers, musicians and composers he has listened to in his life.

The exhibition's main artwork, a very large portrait of Elvis Presley - The King of Rock & Roll - was revealed by Mike Colin Andersen, Europe's best Elvis Impersonator. Both Mike Colin Andersen and Arly Badstue (singer/songwriter) performed at the Vernissage, March 2nd 2018.

The exhibition also include a lot of fan art portraits of other famous singers and musicians. Among the many portraits are portraits of The Beatles, Mick Jagger, Simon & Garfunkel, Joe Cocker, Roy Orbison and more. Artist is Peter Simonsen.

The portrait exhibition is a bit of a journey down Memory Lane beginning with the early hippie culture, flower power and rock genres of the 1960s and 70's ... and with names like Bob Dylan, Janis Joplin, Joe Cocker, Creedence Clearwater Revival and Simon & Garfunkel. The music genres range widely and include jazz, country, rock, blues, classical music and opera.

- I do not remember exactly when I bought my first single record, Peter Simonsen tells, but it probably has been around 1969-70. One of my first albums was an album with Elvis Presley - The King of Rock & Roll. As a boy, I also used the cassette recorder a lot - especially when I drew cartoons characters in my room. After midnight, Radio Luxembourg took over. The radio station played some of the hottest music from abroad. Those were the days :-)

One of the art exhibitions major paintings is a portrait of Ella Fitzgerald done by Peter Simonsen.

Music lovers and fan art enthusiasts will also find portraits of Janis Joplin, Ian Gillan and Jim Morrison. All are painted by Peter Simonsen.

The portraits of Edith Piaf, Charles Aznavour and Beth Hart are created by expressionist painter Peter Simonsen.

Exclusive fan art - the portrait of Bob Dylan is painted by danish portrait painter Peter Simonsen.

- Music has been and is almost always my companion when the pencil or brush dances over paper and canvas, Peter Simonsen explains. Why I do not know. That's just how it is. Compared to the portraits exhibited ... well, I always listen to the singer or musician I'm painting. I'm definitely inspired by the music while I'm painting. Everything is getting better when I listen to music during the process.

Opening Hours:
